Blank or 'White' Pages

Turn on DEBUG mode

If you something fails on your site and you get a blank or 'white' page; or a page where it only loads part of the template you should turn on the DEBUG mode. When Konsort is in DEBUG mode it will spit out all PHP and MySQL errors. To do this open the file:

/include/settings/common.sett.php

Look for:

$_CONF['debug'] = false;

Change that to:

$_CONF['debug'] = true;

Gallery

Lytebox not working on some images

Lytebox will only work if the image is larger then the default setting for "Max Width/Height for uploaded images". Say for example that setting is set at 500px, the image we are viewing must be greater then 500px in order for it to work so users don't view the same image twice.

Half or Part of a Page is loaded

If you view your site on a certain page and its loading only partially or you are only able to view half of your template you will need to first turn on the DEBUG mode. This in most cases will give you a set of error messages and should give you an idea of what is wrong. We have listed below some common reasons as to why this happens.

Non English language package causing problems

If you are able to view a certain part of your site in the default English language package, however you are not able to view the same section correctly with another language package then this would be related to the language package missing some drop down options or phrases which causes a fatal error in the software. To fix this you will need to import the missing phrases/options. More information on how to do this can be found here. Be sure to read up on Post Konsort Upgrade & Keeping Updated.

SMARTY Templates not loading properly

This is a rather common issue we have faced with the SMARTY template engine, where it will only load the top half of your site and leave out the middle section. To fix this you can do the following:

Admin CP

Language Package

Certain Titles for Blogs, Events etc... showing odd characters

If you are not using the default English U.S. language package and you are seeing odd characters with titles for Blogs, Events, Gallery images etc... you will have to enable to feature:

Admin CP >> Edit Options >> Style & Language >> Override PHP function htmlspecialchars

Duplicate entries for Drop Downs

Are you seeing duplicate entries in your Drop Downs? You can find and remove any of these duplicate entries direct from your Admin CP in your Language Manager. For each language package you have under your "Actions" drop down you have "Find Duplicate Actions". Using this tool will find and remove any duplicate entires.

General

Design My Profile tool missing

If your missing your Design My Profile tool you need to make sure the feature is enabled in 2 separate areas in the Admin CP.

You need to first make sure its allowed for a specific user group. For example if you want to allow it for your Normal members you need to log into your Admin CP and navigate to: Users Groups >> User Group Manager >>

Then edit the Normal user group. You should then find this setting:

Use design tool for profile pages

Make sure that setting is set to: Yes

Another area you need to check is: Edit Options >> Style & Language

Then look for the setting:

Don't allow users to add CSS or use the design tool to design their personal profile page

Make sure that setting is set to: No

Video Module

Videos are not converting

If you have FFMPEG installed and videos are not converting the common problem is you need to add the full path of where the FFMPEG binary is located. By default our setting is ffmpeg and this is fine in most cases as this is what is used via command line. However this will not work on all linux flavors, so to make sure this feature will work you need to add the full path to where the binaries for ffmpeg and mencoder is located. If you do not know you can ask your host or do the following via command line:

whereis ffmpeg

It would output something like this:

ffmpeg: /usr/bin/ffmpeg /usr/X11R6/bin/ffmpeg /usr/bin/X11/ffmpeg /usr/local/bin/ffmpeg /usr/share/man/man1/ffmpeg.1.gz

The full path would then be:

/usr/bin/ffmpeg

This same method needs to be done for mencoder. Once you have the full location of these binaries log into your Admin CP and navigate to: Edit Options >> Video >> FFMPEG

Then edit the following settings:

Path to the mEncoder binaries
Path to the FFMPEG binaries
