Home » V2 » Adding FTP Support

There are certain areas within the AdminCP that require FTP access to your server. This is because v2 has been designed to keep Admins in the AdminCP instead of having to open their FTP client and upload files to their server in order to accomplish various tasks. The goal is to do everything from one place and be able to install themes, emoticons, styles direct from the AdminCP with a click of a button.

Once FTP support is enabled you will not have to turn it on again, so you only have to do this the one time.

In order to enable FTP support login into your AdminCP and navigate to:

Settings >> System Settings >> Manage Settings >> FTP

For the setting:

Enable FTP Support

Set this to:

True

For the following settings:

FTP Host, FTP Username & FTP Password

These are the details used when you log in using an FTP client. Use those same details here. If you are unsure ask your host and they will be able to provide you with this information.

For the final setting:

FTP Directory Path

This can be tricky depending on how your FTP account is setup. This is a crucial setting as this is the relative path to where your site is installed based on the FTP account you are using. For this setting we provide a tool to help find the path for you as best we can. If you click on the click-able link found in the description of this setting it will ask you to fill in your FTP host, username & password. Once you fill in those details we will attempt to find the correct path for you, however if we cannot find the path you will need to ask your host. An example using a cPanel server is if you login with your FTP account the correct path would be:

/public_html/

This would be if your site was installed in the root directory of that domain. If it was installed in a folder called "development" it would be:

/public_html/development/

Once all the settings are filled click on "Submit" and we will check if the details are correct and display any error messages on what is wrong.
